Status: Complete — Final Fit-Off
We first shared the rough-in stage of this Frenchs Forest renovation a few weeks ago. Now the job is done, and it’s one of our favourite full-home transformations to date.
From First Fix to Final Fit-Off
A full home renovation electrical scope isn’t finished when the rough-in wiring goes in — it’s finished when every switch clicks, every downlight sits flush, and every outlet lands exactly where the homeowner will actually use it. That’s the stage our team returned to complete at Prahran Ave: the final fit-off across every room in the house.
This is where planning becomes livability. Circuit runs that were roughed in weeks earlier now had to translate into a home that works the way this family actually lives — bench-height power in the kitchen, data points where the home office needed them, and lighting scaled to each room’s function.
What Was Installed

Lighting
- LED downlights installed throughout all living areas and bedrooms
- Designer pendant lights positioned above the kitchen island
- Ceiling fan and light combination units fitted in multiple bedrooms
Switches & Power
- Black 5-gang, 2-gang and 3-gang switch plates fitted throughout the home
- Power outlets installed at final positions — bench height, behind the TV, and dedicated points for the dishwasher, fridge and kitchen island
- RJ45 black data points connected for wired network access
Appliance & Safety Circuits
- Oven and stove electrical connections completed
- 3x 10-year lithium smoke alarms installed
- 3x 20A RCBOs installed for circuit protection
- Bathroom ventilation fan fitted
Every fitting was positioned against the household’s actual layout and usage — not just to a generic plan — which is the difference between a technically compliant install and one that genuinely suits how the home lives day to day.
Why the Fit-Off Stage Matters
Homeowners often focus on the rough-in as “the electrical work,” but the fit-off is where quality becomes visible and usable. Switch plate placement, downlight spacing, and outlet height are all decisions that affect a home every single day. Getting them right requires the same team that planned the rough-in to see the job through — which is exactly the approach Scott Electrics takes on every renovation.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a full home fit-off take after rough-in is complete?
Timing depends on the size of the home and trade sequencing (painting, cabinetry and flooring usually need to be finished first), but a fit-off of this scale — covering every room, appliance circuit and safety device — typically takes several days once the site is ready for final fixtures.
Why use 20A RCBOs instead of a standard RCD/circuit breaker combination?
RCBOs combine overcurrent and earth leakage protection on a single dedicated circuit, meaning a fault on one circuit won’t trip power to unrelated areas of the home. For a full renovation with multiple new circuits, this gives more targeted protection and makes fault-finding simpler down the track.
Do 10-year lithium smoke alarms need to be interconnected?
Under current NSW requirements, smoke alarms in a renovated home generally need to be interconnected so that one alarm triggering sounds all alarms in the property. Scott Electrics installs and wires smoke alarms to meet the applicable NSW standard for the property type and renovation scope.
Does Scott Electrics handle both rough-in and fit-off on the same renovation?
Yes — this project is a good example. Our team completed the rough-in wiring, returned once the home was ready for finishing, and delivered the full fit-off across every room, so the same electrician who planned the circuits is the one who finished them.
From first fix to final fit-off, this Frenchs Forest renovation shows what a fully coordinated electrical scope looks like from start to finish.
